Alan Willson Jenny Burr

Biography

Jenny was born in St. Thomas, Ontario and was raised in a village, 40 km west of St. Thomas, called Rodney. In grade 6 she was encouraged by her teacher to place her poems into a booklet in the school library for her peers to sign out and read. Clearly, the intrigue for writing was established at that time. A couple of high school teachers also promoted her writing abilities. Upon graduating from high school, Jenny obtained
the highest combined mark in Grade 13 English, Drama and History, and received an award for this achievement.

In 1984 Jenny graduated from Brock University in
St. Catharines with a Bachelor of Arts in Child Studies and a Bachelor of Education. After graduating, Jenny lived in
St. Catharines and worked with Developmentally Handicapped Adults in group home settings, supply taught and wrote and implemented a program for children of single teen moms.
Later she obtained Special Education Parts One and Two from Brock and Ottawa Universities.

In 1988 Jenny was married and moved to the Ottawa area. She and her husband have two girls and presently live in a village west of Kanata. When the girls were young, Jenny taught craft and drama classes to children in the surrounding area. Jenny has taught in a private school setting for 8 years, teaching many years in primary grades, and one year at the junior grade level.

Reading, writing, drawing, cooking, learning and spending time at the family cottage are favourite pastimes for Jenny. Although the hectic days of teaching provide little time for writing summer holidays offer Jenny the time to work on her ideas.
